7. God Became Man

Verse Of The Day: May 7

John‬ ‭1:14‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.”

One of the hardest things about Christianity is learning to follow Jesus by His Spirit - because we cannot see Him. I'm sure it was hard for the disciples too because they must have been asking "how can God be a man?"

The bible says the Word became human. When you start reading the bible from the beginning, you see that the first few verses talk about God creating the world, the Spirit moving over the surface and the Word speaking things into existence.

All throughout the Old Testament we see the trinity at work. God the Father, God the Spirit and God the Word. When the Word came to earth as a human, His name was Jesus. God the Word is Jesus the Son.

It is important to see Jesus as the person of God and not as a different person like father and son, two people. Jesus is not God's Son in the sense of a different person to the Father. Jesus is Son of God in the sense that God became human.

Do I mostly think Jesus as God's Son born 2,000 years ago or do I see Jesus as the eternal God becoming a human 2,000 years ago?

Jesus, You are the eternal God who became human for a little while to save me. You alone are God - as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Help me to know You in deeper ways. Amen.
