19. Is Purity Possible?
Verse Of The Day: May 19
Psalms 119:9 NLT
“How can a young person stay pure? By obeying your word.”
Purity seems to be one of the last things on the list for people today. Especially for young people growing up in this current generation. Society has a strong influence toward blurring people's morals. There is little regard for the consequences of our choices.
Purity places an incredible amount of respect on yourself and therefore on others around you.
You can look at this from the simplicity of thoughts toward people, all the way through to how we act at work and the way we treat our friends and family.
Most arguments and quarrels find their origin in a mediation of impurity. If we had better thoughts toward people we would speak and behave in better ways.
One of the largest areas of purity today is in the whole realm of sexuality. We can't even control our thoughts or attitudes much less our thoughts for sexual activity. And our society celebrates impure sexual exploration. We are all encouraged to think whatever we want, no matter how impure it gets.
The only way for a person to stay pure is to keep God's Word as the runway of your life. A strong desire to obey God's Word will keep you on the straight and narrow.
How pure am I according to God's standards?
Lord, I want Your Word to keep me on a straight path toward You. Help me not to be distracted by what the world is saying. Help me not to be influenced the wrong way by those who don't follow You. I want to obey Your word.
