17. Stay The Path

Verse Of The Day: May 17

Psalms‬ ‭119:10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“I have tried hard to find you— don’t let me wander from your commands.”

Thought:

In the first part of the bible (Old Testament), people followed God through His commands. The Ten Commandments are the top ten but there were hundreds of others. They were all given as guard rails to help people stay the path.

Whenever humans did what was right in their own eyes, all kinds of bad things broke out. Society always works best when people follow God's way of doing things.

After Jesus gave His life for all mankind He made a way for us to know His laws in our heart by His Spirit.

Where people used to have to go to the priest to get direction, now God reveals His will by His Spirit. Where people needed temple leadership to mediate situations, we now have God leading us by His Spirit.

The most important attribute to knowing what God wants us to do every day is His Word, the bible. Never before, in all of history, have we had God's Word so accessible and available to us.

Keeping God's Word close to your heart and in your mind will help you stay the path.

Question:

How can I make God's Word a greater part of my daily life?

Prayer:

God, I thank You that You reveal all Your ways in Your Word. Give me a greater passion for the bible and greater understanding of what You are saying. Don't let me wander from Your commands. Amen.
