14. Deceptive Beauty

Verse Of The Day: May 14

Proverbs‬ ‭31:30‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.”

‭‭Thought:

One of the great things about being married for a while is you realise that Hollywood does not give you the real picture of sex, love and intimacy. Great marriages take great work. Friendships don't just happen automatically and neither does romance.

Movies show the spontaneous thrill of falling in love but not the daily grind of healthy emotional love. They entice you with sexual adventures but don't show the true depth of love making over years.

Charm will deceive you into giving up what you have worked hard for. It will promise you a greater experience but leave you empty and broke.

Beauty will. It last on the outside because we are all getting older. But beauty on the inside, in a person's soul, will become the most attractive quality for any relationship.

The only way to develop your soul and become a truly attractive person on the inside is to have a healthy relationship with Jesus. To pursue God with all your heart and follow His ways will chip away at all your rough edges and create a true identity of the person you were always meant to be.

Question:

How do I make sure I am not deceived by temporary beauty?

Prayer:

Lord, You see the inner depths of every person. You see the possibilities of who we should be. Help me not to be deceived by the outward appearance of beauty. Give me eyes to see what You see and help me build lasting love and godly relationships. Amen.
