Verse Of The Day: May 10

Proverbs‬ ‭27:17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.”

Thought:

Friendships make the world go around. It can be difficult building life-long friends that will always stand by you.

I didn't have many friends at school so anybody that would hang out with me was a bonus. When you don't have lots of friends you do anything to keep the ones you have. This means you can compromise your values because you're more worried about losing a friend than you are about losing your soul.

People who don't love you for who you are need to hang around longer to get to know you more. But you need to understand that real friends actually want to know who you really are. Best friends want to help make you a better person.

You don't sharpen a knife with a piece of wood. You need to use something just as hard or harder. It's the same with friendships. The people that help you most are the ones that have just as strong a commitment to you as you do to them.

Best friends can speak the truth in love. They are friends to your destiny. They want to help you love Jesus more. Great friends say what you need to hear because they love you and look out for you.

Question:

Which of my friends have a strong commitment to help me be the person I can be?

Prayer:

Father, help me to be a friend that really does love people and want the best for them. Help me also to build the right friends around me that will encourage me to become more like You.

Amen.
