Thirsty Souls

When you think of an advertisement that clearly describes quenching a thirsty soul, what comes to mind? Coca-Cola? Solo? Gatorade? Red Bull gives you wings but what quenches your thirst?

It's obvious to our whole society that there is an inner thirst that is deeper than just a need for a drink. All these adds show that drinking their product will satisfy for deep need for acceptance, belonging and satisfaction.

What is the real thirst then? It is very close to what they are trying to sell but can never deliver - life! You will never find life in a can, or any other drink product.

Life is only found in Jesus!

The story is the same the world over. I searched my whole life looking to fill an emptiness on the inside, only to remain hungry and thirsty still. Nothing I experienced seem to satisfy that deep dryness on the inside, until I received God's Life in Jesus.

The Psalmist says, As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God. I thirst for God, the living God. When can I go and stand before him? (‭Psalms‬ ‭42‬:‭1-2‬ NLT).

Once you realise there is a deeper you, the spiritual you on the inside, that longs to be set free and experience this new life, the search can be more clearly directed.

Your spirit (or heart) only needs time in God's presence to understand the tremendous value of His sustaining power. You truly come alive when you come alive from the inside.

Jumping off a sand dune with a coke in your hand is really quite temporary when you have spent even only a few minutes in the presence of God. The length of reading this blog and thinking about how the Spirit of Jesus is calling you and drawing you to simply wait with Him, is all you need to create an insatiable appetite for more time with Him.

God wants us to enjoy this life and the best way to enjoy it is to know which way to turn when we think about Thirsty Souls.
